Ultrasound and Biopsy

My how things move... I picked Megan up and we went to the hospital.  They were very  kind as they  checked her in for her appointment.  It's as if they somehow know the fate of what is about to happen and they don't want to look her in the eye.

Heather the nurse comes to get her and I offer to go with her but say she must do this part alone.  She told me as she walked to the room, she asked if she could go to the restroom and Heather told her there was one in the room.  She smiled.  If only every hospital room came equipped with a bathroom.

She was positioned on the table with a bolster placed behind her for her to lean on.  The gel was heated, and the ultrasound began.  It wasn't difficult to find it.  The black circle announced itself quickly.  Measurements taken.  Megan asked if it was cancer, and of course they say they don't know and we all know they do.  As she watched th screen, three black snakes slid across the screen and in a flash they were gone.  The machine slid back across her breast and there they were again.  Heather pressed harder and then stopped.  There the snakes coiled into a formation shouting, your'e gonna die bitch - you have it bad."

Megan concentrated on holding still.  She tried to feel the sun beating on her skin and he sand beneath her toes.  She felt the warmth and grit and worked to stay in that place. When the ultrasound was finished she was told that the radiologist would be in shortly to confirm what Heather already knew.  She was screwed!

Dr. Tellerman came in and was all business.  She explained that it was quite concerning and all present thought it would be best to do biopsy right then.  Heather explained the paperwork, Megan signed and away they went sticking needles in her breast and hole punching the inner pieces of her femininity into a small vial.

Megan was assured she would be notified the following day and what steps would be taken at that time.  Directions were given for post hole punch care including not bathing nor lifting anything heavy including laundry.  An ice pack was placed in her bra and out the door she walked with a probably has cancer sign hanging over her head.

The rest of the day moved quickly.  Megan took her two daughters Sadie and Berniece to look at cats.  The family had decided to get a new critter but right now they were each wanting one and that is exactly what happened.  The joy of watching them felt right so when the perfect kitties were found - Megan said sure.

The kitties will be good fodder.  They will give them all something to smile about and laugh at and focus their attention on instead of the affliction that will be attacking this precious family.  Good fodder indeed!
